Doug Foley Shares Offseason Updates at Foley Lewis Racing
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 18, 2024) – Following another season of progressive growth in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, Top Fuel driver Doug Foley and his Foley Lewis Racing team are working towards their best season yet in 2025. With crew chief Doug Kuch working with the team on a full-time basis as of Dec. 1, the team recently moved into a new shop in Mooresville, N.C., and a new chassis and engine components are getting worked into the mix as well. Foley also secured partnerships with new and returning sponsors for 2025.
“The offseason is always a busy time, but especially so this year,” Foley said. “We’ve been making investments towards our future in the sport, and now we’re starting to implement some of those investments. We’re excited to say Doug Kuch is expanding his role with our team by coming on full-time earlier this month. With his continued leadership and expertise, we’re looking forward to starting the season with some new parts and pieces that we believe will take us to the next level.”
Foley, a residential and commercial real estate developer outside Charlotte, recently moved his team from Brownsburg, Ind., to a brand-new shop in Mooresville, N.C.
“We’re extremely excited about the new shop,” Foley said. “It’s a lot more square footage and will just make for a more comfortable place to work. We can move in knowing that this is where the team will be housed for the rest of its career.”
Foley Lewis Racing also took delivery of a new car built by Precision Built Race Cars, which will go into service at some point during the 2025 season. Foley will make his season debut at the second annual SCAG Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park in February before kicking off a 10-race NHRA campaign at the Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in March.
“Bringing a new car into the fold over the offseason is exciting, but we’re going to take our time with it and wait to bring it out later in the season when time allows,” Foley said. “We’re putting brand-new AJPE 8 cylinder heads on the car for the PRO Superstar Shootout. We’ve gone through all of our blowers. We have to continue working on the power side to really try to keep up with these full-time cars.”
United Garage Door and Alloy Employer Services are returning for the 2025 season, with both brands expanding their support of the team. Returning sponsors also include Red Line Oil, Goodson Tools & Supplies, TechnoCraft Trailer Cabinets, The BAMR Company, PROTECS Inc., and ARP, while Insinger Performance joined on as the Official Fuel Provider of Foley Lewis Racing.
“United and Alloy both stepping up and increasing their participation with the team is huge,” Foley said. “Both of these partnerships were built off of B2B relationships. Myself, Austin Kardules, Guy Pierce, and the whole team have worked hard to find those relationships that could move the needle. We’re out there beating the streets every day to find out where we can provide value for our partners.”
Foley also noted the continued support of team partner Tim Lewis, who has raced with Foley for more than 20 years.
“None of this would have happened without Tim Lewis,” Foley said. “It is just not something I would have had the opportunity to do without his support. Every day I appreciate our relationship and everything that he’s done to allow our team to compete at this level.” For more updates on Foley Lewis Racing, visit www.FoleyLewisRacing.com and follow the team on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/FoleyLewisRacing.

Insinger Performance Named Official Fuel Provider of Foley Lewis Racing
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 11, 2024) – Insinger Performance, a leading regional distributor of racing fuel in the Northeast U.S., will serve as the Official Fuel Provider of Foley Lewis Racing in the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, the team announced today. Driver Doug Foley will banner the Insinger Performance branding on his Top Fuel dragster at 10 NHRA national events and the second annual PRO Superstar Shootout.
Started in 1987 by Bruce Insinger, Insinger Performance has grown to be the master distributor of all VP Racing Fuels for the Northern Atlantic region into Canada, as well as the No. 1 supplier of 99.9% methanol in the Northeast. With two locations in Pennsylvania and Delaware, Insinger Performance also serves its local community with Home Heating Oil, Off-Road Diesel, On-Road Diesel, 87-93 octane gasolines, oils, lubricants, antifreeze, additives, DEF, as well as various bulk and packaged blends for the oil and gas industry.
“We’re proud to announce this new long-term partnership with Bruce Insinger and Insinger Performance,” Doug Foley said. “We used to race together back in the Top Alcohol days and we’ve kept in touch over the years. We recently sat down and put together a program that allows us to represent his brand next season and beyond. It’s pretty cool that even someone who competed against me in the past has the confidence in our team that we’ve done well enough over the years and that we can represent his brand.”
As the Official Fuel Provider of Foley Lewis Racing, Insinger Performance will provide the team with all of the VP Racing Fuels products Foley, crew chief Doug Kuch, team co-owner Tim Lewis, and the team will need to compete against the full-time teams of the NHRA Mission Foods Series.
“This is huge because you absolutely need fuel to run one of these cars,” Foley said. “It’s no secret that Top Fuel cars burn through a ton of nitromethane. It’s a cost of doing business, so anytime we can say we’ve received assistance in a category like that is huge, especially for a part-time team.”

Doug Foley Spending Summer Break Preparing for Indy and Beyond
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 26, 2024) – A promising performance at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, has Doug Foley and his Foley Lewis Racing team eager to get back on track to continue refining their program. But while the full-time teams of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series complete the Western Swing and the Brainerd Nationals, Foley and his part-time team are taking a summer break to prepare for a busy stretch of races to close out the season, including the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.
Before Norwalk, Foley qualified No. 9 at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway before defeating motorsports icon Tony Stewart in the opening round of eliminations.
At the Norwalk race, Foley was the No. 4 qualifier after Friday’s two qualifying sessions with his 3.744-second pass at 319.98 MPH. He slipped to the No. 8 position by the time Saturday’s two sessions were completed, but he improved his best time to a 3.739. Foley earned lane choice for Sunday eliminations, where he faced full-time competitor Billy Torrence in the first round. Foley left the starting line first and charged to a consistent 3.746 at 322.50, but he came up just eight-thousandths of a second short of beating Torrence’s 3.717.
“We saw an increase in performance and consistency, which is something we haven't had in a long time,” Foley said. “Usually, we have one or the other. We just hadn’t found the ability to keep up with those full-time teams on a regular basis. We went to Norwalk, a place where you had to turn it up a little bit, and we were able to turn it up.”
The first-round win at Bristol and the consistently quick performances at Norwalk served as a morale boost for Foley and his team led by crew chiefs Lance Larsen and Doug Kuch, especially after a trying DNQ at Chicago.
“The guys are really doing a great job. They've given me such a good car,” Foley said. “I think we all looked at Chicago and said, ‘Wow, there's a reality check.’ We all have to dig down deeper a little more and try to figure out how we can be more consistent. After four years back in Top Fuel, we’ve really found our stride in a crucial year with us trying to be competitive and grow the team. I think it couldn't have come at a better time.”
Adding to the significance of the Norwalk performance was the fact that Summit Motorsports Park is the home track on the NHRA tour for two of the team’s biggest sponsors, Alloy Employer Services and United Garage Door Company.
“Having lane choice is a big accomplishment for a part-time team like ours, and to do it in front of our sponsors at their home track was exciting,” Foley said. “We can’t hang our heads over going 3.74 and losing by .008 at the stripe against a full-time car. We gave them a good race. It was close. The thing I'm most proud of is the guys give me a car every race that is just a quality car that is put together properly. The effort is really flawless.”
After Norwalk, Foley and the team started their summer break while the NHRA Mission Foods Series headed West for races in Seattle, Sonoma, and Brainerd. Foley Lewis Racing will be back on track at the 70th annual NHRA U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park over Labor Day Weekend. The team will take advantage of the time away from the track to restock and refresh its parts supply.
“When you have that summer off, you look at where your weaknesses are,” Foley said. “Anybody who runs a business looks at where are you strong, where are you weak, and where can you do better? For us, it's a little bit of parts inventory and adjusting our tuneup to put a little more power in the car. We want to look at what we could be missing on the power side so we can try a little harder in places like Indy, and then Maple Grove and Charlotte, where you're expecting cool weather.”
In addition to Alloy Employer Services and United Garage Door Company, Foley Lewis Racing races with support from Authority Garage Supply Inc., CHI Overhead Doors, Liftmaster, DDP Roofing, Red Line Oil, MR Drywall Service LLC, PROTECS, The BAMR Company, and Sander Engineering.

Crew Chief Doug Kuch Returns to Foley Lewis Racing
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Nov. 30, 2023) – Veteran crew chief Doug Kuch is returning to Foley Lewis Racing to work with driver Doug Foley and his Top Fuel team for the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, the team announced today. Kuch, who has worked with Foley Lewis Racing during multiple periods of Foley’s Top Fuel career, will work together with co-crew chief Lance Larsen to help the team accomplish its goals in an increasingly competitive class.
“We want to take the momentum we built up at the end of this season and build on that going into 2024,” said Doug Foley, driver and co-owner, Foley Lewis Racing. “We feel like we’re starting to turn a corner, and we feel like you have to turn a corner. When you watch what these guys are doing, you better run fast. Our goals are to run 3.60s and to start winning more rounds. In an effort to do that, we decided it was time to grow the team.”
Kuch and Larsen are both veterans of nitro racing with decades of experience working with some of the biggest names in the sport. Kuch was Foley’s crew chief when he competed in NHRA and IHRA Top Fuel during the mid-to-late 2000s and into the 2010s. He also worked with the team for some time when Foley returned to Top Fuel in recent years. Larsen joined the team at the beginning of the 2023 season, which saw Foley compete in eight races. The two mechanical minds will pool their talents to improve the team’s performance on and off the track.
“Doug Kuch has really kept up with the modern technology that it takes to run competitively in Top Fuel,” Foley said. “He can help us tweak what we have so we can try to stay ahead of the curve. There’s also a lot that doesn’t change, whether it’s technology or the approach to running these cars. That’s where Lance Larsen comes in. He’s really good at working with the guys to make sure we’re doing everything properly in the pits to set us up for success on track. I’m confident this duo will help us become more competitive.”
Foley and the Foley Lewis Racing Top Fuel team plan to compete in around half of the races during the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. The team will make additional announcements regarding its marketing partners for the new season over the next few weeks

February 9, 2023

We’re proud to continue our partnership with PROTECS Inc. for the 2023 NHRA Camping World Series season. A full-service project and construction management company, PROTECS Inc. will serve as our primary branding partner for the Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway, the 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway, and the Pep Boys Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. They’re also an associate branding partner for the entire season. “It’s a big deal to start off our season with PROTECS Inc. back on the side of the car,” said Doug Foley.
“This is our third season with PROTECS on board. They’re engaged partners and they’re excited about what we’re doing.” A big thank you to Chris DiPaolo for his continued support.

Red Line Synthetic Oil is back on board as our oil partner. Since returning to full-time NHRA Top Fuel competition, Red Line has been our oil of choice. We trust Red Line’s oil and other lubricants with our 11,000-horsepower, 330 MPH Top Fuel dragster, but they also offer products you can trust in your daily driver, lawnmower, or motorcycle.
“Teams like ours have used Red Line Oil for years for a reason,” said Doug Foley. “Their products have been developed, tested, and refined by racers and enthusiasts in the toughest environments. We need the best products available to compete in NHRA Top Fuel, and Red Line certainly fits the bill. We’re proud to have the continued support of Mark Beatty and #TeamRedLineOil.”

Doug Foley Inks Deal with PROTECS Inc. to Start NHRA Top Fuel Season at Pomona and Phoenix

PROTECS Inc., a full-service project and construction management company, will continue its support of Doug Foley and the Foley Lewis Racing Top Fuel team as the team’s primary sponsor for the first two races of the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season. Foley will start his season at the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., before continuing on to the NHRA Arizona Nationals near Phoenix.
PROTECS first joined Foley Lewis Racing as the primary sponsor at the NHRA’s 2021 stop at Maple Grove Raceway, the Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania-based company’s home track. After the initial partnership was a success, PROTECS President and Founder Chris DiPaolo decided to expand the company’s relationship with the team in 2022. PROTECS will be the primary sponsor on the car at the first two races and again later in the season, while they’ll also assume an associate sponsor role through the whole season.
“Chris DiPaolo is just a great guy,” said Foley. “He came to the race at Maple Grove and got a chance to see everything. A week later, he sent some of his North Carolina people down to visit us at the Charlotte race. They came and enjoyed the experience. I think he truly sees the value in what we’re doing. To have someone like him step up and help us at our first couple races is huge. We don't have as many relationships on the West Coast as we do in other parts of the country, so it was a huge advantage to us to get the ball rolling early and have their support. It's going to be nice to have their branding on a brand-new car. We're excited about it.”
Foley and his team, co-owned by longtime racing partner Tim Lewis, made a series of major changes over the offseason. Those changes included a move from Mooresville, North Carolina, to the nitro racing capital, Brownsburg, Indiana, as well as upgrading to a brand-new chassis built by Lucas Oil Fabrication.
Another substantial change has been the addition of tuner Aaron Brooks, who joined the team at the end of the 2021 season.
“In my opinion, Aaron Brooks is the biggest upgrade we've done,” Foley said. “Yes, we did it in September and we did one race with him, but I think I called him on a Tuesday to tell him he was tuning it on Friday and he never saw the car prior to that. I look at it as Pomona is really his first race with us. The ability to have somebody of his caliber doing this for us as our crew chief is definitely exciting.”
With Foley’s shop now located in Indy, Brooks has been able to lead the charge as the team has worked all winter to completely revamp and fine-tune the operation. They’ve introduced new engine components, added more spare engines to the trailer, and checked over every detail.
“We looked at everything we could do to be a better program all around,” said Foley, who will take part in the PRO Nitro Spring Training test session at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park near Phoenix. “Aaron is unbelievably hands on. The guys have literally been working night and day to make sure everything is ready for testing. We know we're going to run the stuff harder and part of that is making sure that some of the little details are really going to give us that extra one percent that you need to compete with the top teams.”
Foley and his team have major goals for the season, including chasing their first NHRA Top Fuel win, but it all starts with getting more aggressive in qualifying.
“When we returned to Top Fuel in 2020, we were just so happy to be back we didn't put the emphasis on qualifying the way we should have and we let some of the little details slip away, which unfortunately we can't do these days,” Foley said. “If you don't put a huge emphasis on that, you're putting yourself in a really bad spot in the beginning of the race on Sunday. Our qualifying average was probably 12th in the past two years. We need to move that up to be a lane choice type of situation if possible. I think that's where it starts. You're giving yourself better odds for first round. After that, you have to rely on the whole program coming together and going rounds.”
Foley and the PROTECS Inc. Top Fuel team will kick off the 2022 season at the NHRA Winternationals, Feb. 17-20 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif.
